Enter the doors of the Gadsden Arts Center and you will be exposed to art unlike that you have seen in many other museums.  The Ichiboku Sculptures are a most exciting opportunity to learn about the history and craft of the "one tree" type of Japanese sculpture made from a single block of wood . This technique is from the 9th century when a spirit of religious revivalism prevailed, and the spirit of the tree was invoked to lend strength to the image carved from it.

You will also be able to enjoy the works of Beth Appleton and her colorful works brightly painted watercolor paper her images are scored, cut and folded to create a multi-dimensional tropical fantasy of bright sunlit days or starlit nights exploding with a profusion of exotic flowers and fruit, swaying palm trees, reveling dancers and a menagerie of fish, reptiles and birds.

The Center has exhibits throughout the year to offer the opportunity to see a wide variety of different works by different artists.  Every time you visit the Center you will be exposed to new and exiciting works in the visiting artworks and their permanent collection.

There are educational programs available for both students and adults at the Center.  There are art classes, art camps, classes to explore your creativity, learn how to draw and paint and much more.  This is a fabulous way for both adults and children to explore their creativity and ability while learning to appreciate the art of others as well.
