Step into the Past at Dinosaur World in Plant City
Florida is full of things for people to see and do, from visiting the beaches on the Gulf Coast and the beaches on the Atlantic shores to visiting the many theme parks scattered across the state. Everyone can have a great time in Florida, no matter what type of attraction you like.
If dinosaurs fascinate you or your children, you must make a trip out to Dinosaur World in Plant City. This is heaven for a dinosaur lover and any kids who want to grow up to be a paleontologist. The 12-acre park contains over 150 well made and creative dinosaur replicas.
As you and the family walk along the beautiful trails around Dinosaur World, you will see some of these great beasts. Of course, you will be able to see many of the popular and famous dinosaurs, such as the T-Rex, stegosaurus and triceratops. You can also see the massive brachiosaurus and the fearsome spinosaurus.
However, you can also find quite a few dinosaurs that are a bit more obscure such as the Tsintaosaurus and the Pachycephalosaurus. Each of the dinosaurs along these paths has a plaque near them that tells the guests some interesting details about the dinosaur.
The park offers many other things to do besides the trails and seeing all of the wonderful dinosaurs.
Children will have a great time when he or she participates in the fossil dig. The dig is one of the favorite features of the park, a place where kids from 3 – 12 can dig through the sand and look for some fossils.
They can find many different kinds of fossils, from trilobites, amber, coral and even shark’s teeth while in the fossil dig. As a souvenir, the children are allowed to keep up to three of the fossils they find. This is included in the admission price, however if you are over 12 (or under 3) and still want to dig for the fossils, you will have to pay an extra $2.
Guests can also visit the museum, where they can learn even more about their favorite prehistoric creatures and see artifacts such as dinosaur eggs and the claws of a velociraptor. Another popular part of the park, and one of the newest additions, is the Skeleton Garden, where you can see a variety of full-sized dinosaur skeletons.
While food is not sold at the park, they do provide picnic areas and people are encouraged to bring in their own food. You can even eat in the "cave" area to get out of the heat.
The whole family will have a great day at Dinosaur World. Admission for adults is $12.75, $9.75 for children 3 – 12, and $10.75 for seniors over 60. You can even bring your friendly, leashed pets to the park!
