Salvador Dali Museum – Saint Petersburg, Florida

Visiting Saint Petersburg’s Salvador Dali Museum. Salvador Dali, on of the most famous painters in the world, was born in Spain in 1904. While he was known for his skill in a variety of styles, he is perhaps best known for his many surrealistic works. Besides his work as a painter, he also worked in sculpture, photography, and film with the likes of Walt Disney and Alfred Hitchcock.

People around the world love his works, and the Salvador Dali Museum, located in St. Petersburg, Florida boasts the world’s largest comprehensive collection of his varied works. It includes the impressionist and cubist styles in which he worked, as well as paintings from his more renowned surrealistic period.

Visitors to the museum will find 96 original oil paintings, as well as more than 100 watercolors and drawings. Also at the museum are more than 1300 other items, such as photos, sculptures, and objects d’art, and a library. The museum also houses rotating exhibits that change on a regular basis – the means that even if you have already been to the museum, you can come back and see something entirely new.

Some of the most famous paintings in the collection are Still Life: Fish with Red Bowl, Daddy Longlegs of the Evening – Hope!, and The Ghost of Vermeer of Delft Which Can Be Used as a Table. The titles of his work can be quite a mouthful, but his skill is something that can’t be denied.
