Have a Wet and Wonderful Time at Weeki Wachee Springs.  Weeki Wachee Springs is a beloved tourist attraction in Hernando County that has delighted visitors for decades. The grounds at Weeki Wachee Springs consists of 200 acres of fun natural and man-made attractions.

The famous live mermaids are Weeki Wachee’s most famous attraction. Live mermaids perform in daily shows in a beautiful underwater theater. The mermaids delight visitors by performing special shows such as Hans Christian Anderson’s “The Little Mermaid.”

“Fish Tails” is a hosted show that provides visitors with a behind the scenes look at the mermaids’ performances over the years. You’ll see the mermaids eat and drink underwater, plus perform a special patriotic show entitled “Tribute to America.”

In addition to the mermaids, there are plenty of live animals to view and meet at Weeki Wachee Springs. “Feathered Follies” is an entertaining animal show that features talented parrots and other friendly birds. An intriguing and educational reptile show gives visitors an up close look at snakes, monitors, toads and other animals. Some of the animals interact with the mermaids at Weeki Wachee Springs, too. You may see fish, turtles, otters, manatees and even alligators swim with the mermaids during your visit.

You can swim at sandy beaches at Weeki Wachee Springs’ Buccaneer Bay, plus enjoy thrilling water rides at the only spring-fed waterpark in Florida. A kiddie pool, flume rides, and a relaxing river tube ride are all available, plus you can enjoy a game of beach volleyball during your visit.

If you’d like to explore Weeki Wachee River and view manatees, birds and other wildlife, you can rent a canoe or kayak to paddle (or just float) along the River. You can also go fishing or enjoy a picnic at Weeki Wachee Springs, and SCUBA diving is another activity available to visitors.

Kids can register in advance to attend Mermaid Camp at Weeki Wachee. They will learn basic water surface mermaid swimming and acrobatics, plus enjoy swimming with the mermaids and even have their own mermaid photo taken. There is also a lifesaving course teens and pre-teens ages 8-14 may register to take at Weeki Wachee seasonally. Prerequisite swimming skills are required for this special course focused on developing swimming safety, first aid and other skills.
