The Annual Coke Zero 400 is ready to roll in July!  The 4th will be all that much better with this event offering some of the top drivers in NASCAR competing on the 31 degree banking track at the Daytona International Track in Daytona Beach.  The mid-season classic race is considered to be one of the longest-running races in NASCAR history.

The race is held the first week of July and is held under the lights.  This race is one that every driver wants to win since it is the only other Nextel Cup Series race held at Daytona with the other being the Daytona 500.  There will be 160 laps of challenging racing to keep you enthralled with the ability of these drivers.

This is a NASCAR Spring Cup Series stock car race with Coca-Cola becoming the official soft drink provider and sponsor of the race in 2008.  Winners of this race have included such greats as Jeff Gordon (1995 & 1998 & 2004), John Andretti (1997), Dale Earnhardt, Jr (2001), Tony Stewart (2005 & 2006) with Kyle Busch winning in 2008.

The top cars have been Ford with 15 wins, Chevrolet with 13 and Mercury with less than half with 7.  Toyota made its first win in 2008.

Daytona International Speedway means auto racing worldwide.  This 480 acre motor sports complex boasts the most unique racing schedule of events in the world which earned it the title “The World Center of Racing.”

Exiting After The Race Go To US 1
After the race, for the fastest and least congested routes north, south and west of the Speedway, the Police Department and Highway Patrol suggest that you access Interstate 95 or Interstate 4 by going east from the Speedway to U.S. 1. From U.S. 1 you can access I-95 or I-4.

If you are thinking of packing a big picnic to take along, or bringing along a cooler of beer or other drinks you better re-evaluate those plans.  Here is the listing of what is and what is not allowed in the facility for the races: Fans may enter ISC facilities with:

One soft side bag / cooler, no larger than 6 X 6 X 12 inches.
Examples include: a soft side insulated cooler, a scanner bag, a fanny pack, a purse, a diaper bag, or a binocular bag, etc.
This one bag may be carried in any manner, i.e. by handle, with shoulder straps, on a belt, etc.
The soft side insulated cooler may contain ice.

One clear plastic bag, no larger than 18 X 18 X 4 inches, to accommodate samples received and purchases made after fans have parked their cars. This one clear bag may be carried in any manner, i.e. by handle, with shoulder straps, etc. Clear plastic bags may not contain ice.

Note: Fans are allowed to bring in one each of the bags described above.

Binoculars, scanners, headsets, cameras, not in a bag, worn separately over the neck or on the belt and seat cushions carried separately are also allowed.

Seat cushion bags with compartments will be reviewed on an individual basis.

All items brought through a grandstand gate will be inspected.
The following may not enter the admission gates:

Firearms, Fireworks and items restricted by Local, State or Federal laws

Hard sided coolers, thermos and insulated cups of any size.

Items restricted by track policy:

No strollers, umbrellas, etc.

Any bags, backpacks, or containers larger than the allowed size.

While you are there for the Coke Zero 400 you may want to visit the 60,000 ft. interactive motor sports attraction featuring hundreds of multi-media attractions to get you in the true race mode.  This is appropriate for all ages so go and enjoy.

    The Holiday Inn Express across from the racetrack has lowered their rates for race weekend. They have free parking and a shuttle on raceday too. It’s a good deal in a tough economy.
