My first and last Daytona "experience". Got within 1 mile of the exit for parking lot 7 on I-95 at 1030AM. Sat there for over 2 hours without moving a half a mile. FHP said they had 30 troopers working the event instead of the normal 300. Finally got to the parking lot at about 1:30 PM. Lot 7 is Free parking, but Ticketsnow sold me a pass for $52.00. I still have not figured that out. No available trams to the buses, walked the 1/2 mile. Got to the track at about 2:15PM. Missed all opening events although we were there 2.5 hours early. About an hour and a half of race time spent by track crew to try and figure out how to fix a hole in the track. Cold weather was not letting the repair set correctly. Had no one thought of this before? After the race, no trams to get from the buses to the parked cars at least a half mile away. The 6 dollar beers and stale peanuts just heightened the enjoyment, but you expect that. The race itself was a great experience. The $279 holiday inn motel room after the event was very nice, but should have been 1/2 the price. I spent almost $1000 for my son and I to attend. They could have done a much better job in making this a good experience. They need to get it together. I would not recommend this to anyone.
